I got to experience my first birthday in
South America.

MARCH, 2017

In the month of March I turned 36, and I got to experience my first birthday in South America. They have some birthday traditions that are different than ours.

One tradition is to smash the birthday person’s face into his cake! We continue to advance in language school, and study the culture here. South America is a very religious place. Most of the taxis have a picture of a saint hanging down from the rearview mirror, and many business have pictures of Jesus or Mary hanging up. We know that religion and sincerity profit nothing however, and the people need the truth of the Gospel!

I’m an Image Caption ready-to-use.

This is a picture I took inside one of the Catholic churches here in the city. It is a shrine with a statue of Jesus, lying dead. The people standing in front of it are praying. Pray that the Gospel might go forward in South America, and that people might turn away from vain religious practices.

Things To Pray For:

• Pray for steady progress in our language learning

• Pray for the Sunday School class as it continues to grow (we had a record attendance of 31 the other day).

• Pray as we invite young people to the Saturday night youth meetings. There is a university with 10,ooo students right across the street from the church!
