Last week Argentina’s new president took office.  President Mauricio Macri’s taking office represents a swing in the political atmosphere in Argentina, and is a break in the liberal hold on politics in the country.  The transition of power in Argentina did not, however, go without a hitch.  Departing President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner refused to appear in person for the swearing-in ceremony of the new president.

In the first week of taking office, President Mauricio has been taking some huge steps in helping his country find its way again.  These measures will be painful at first, but they are needed, and will greatly benefit the country in the long run.
