Letter, September 2017

In September I was given the opportunity to teach in the seminary here. I am teaching English as an elective to the third-year students. I teach them English as they correct my Spanish, and we have a lot of fun.

Also in our Sunday School program we have a class for new church members. In this class they are taught what the church teaches and believes. Two of the seminary students are teaching this class and they are doing a great job. This class lasts for 10 weeks and we had six people graduate from the class last month. We had a special moment during the Sunday morning service during which we recognized their accomplishment and gave them each a certificate. The church was very encouraged by this and we received more students that wanted to go through this class. We have started it again with another group!

Prayer Points:

  • As our formal stage of language learning comes to an end we are beginning to make plans for our next move. Pray for us as we are making plans to leave here to begin our own ministry. It will be some months in the future. We have had a wonderful experience here in Arequipa, Peru, learning Spanish, and learning more about the ministry.
  • Pray that we grow in the language.
  • Pray for a young man named Gabriel that has started coming to church with my family on Thursday nights. He is fifteen years old and needs to be saved.
  • Pray for the Sunday School classes. In August we had a much better attendance than in July, and are looking to grow even more in September.
