Who doesn’t want a happy home? I know that I do, but how can we have this? In a society where it seems that people are giving up on the family Aijith Fernando has some very wise words for us on this subject.
To have a happy home, you must be a happy person, relishing God’s love for you and being content in the fact that he will look after you and give you all that you need for a fulfilled life.
Obedience is the key that opens the floodgates of God’s love. There is no shortage of love in God, as we have said, but we can block its flow by disobedience. Christian love is decisive. It does not always just happen, which is what occurs when we love someone to whom we are attracted. We make it happen through obedience. It is not natural to love our enemies, but we decide to love them. Our decision to obey activates God’s love, and we find the strength to do it. This is the kind of love God has for us. Paul says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom. 5: 8). This brings us to the heart of the Christian understanding of love. It is a decision we make to love even when we do not naturally like to do so and when the object of love does not seem to deserve our love.
