“Looking Only To Jesus”

“Looking Only To Jesus”

In Mark 9:1-9 Jesus leads Peter, James, and John up the mountain, where He is then
transfigured before their eyes. He speaks with Moses and Elisha. Peter is so scared he
doesn’t know what to say or even what he is saying (vs 5-6), so he just says the first thing on
his mind,
“Let’s make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.”
Peter is amazed at what he is seeing; right before his eyes here are two legendary figures of Jewish history. Two “superheroes”.
A cloud comes down, covering them, and then the voice of God, “This is my beloved Son: hear him.” As the cloud lifts, they see only Jesus. Peter had yet to see Christ for who He is. He wasn’t another Moses, another great leader, nor was He another Elisha, another great prophet. He was and is the greatest leader, and the greatest prophet. In other words, He isn’t even on the same level as Moses and Elisha; He is much more than a man, He is God’s son. Another observation is that everything that Moses and the prophets had to say was all pointing to Christ. We look to none other but Him.

Three Conversations:

Last Thursday the Lord opened up an opportunity for me to witness to three different men. Carlos #1: Carlos is a plumber who came by the house to modify some of the pipes so we could install a dishwasher. When he had finished his work, he and I talked for close to an hour. I gave him a tract and explained the purpose of our move to Argentina.
