How Christ Answered The Question “Are You The Christ”

How Christ Answered The Question “Are You The Christ”

Jesus stands before the High Priest in Mark 14. In verse 61 they ask him straight up “Are you the Christ?” What was his answer? “Yes, I am.” Many modern people and even other religions many times do not doubt the existence of Christ, they will also go so far as saying he was a good man, a prophet, and an excellent moral teacher.

They will deny his deity, but Christ didn’t. He declared without a doubt that he was the Son of God. Then to the priest, he declared that as the Christ, the Son of God he will 1. Be seated at the right hand of power. In other words, he is in charge. 2. He is coming back. In his return, he will make all things right. Which means there will be a judgment and accountability. These were the things the priest didn’t want to accept. They didn’t want to acknowledge him as the Christ because that would mean yielding to him, and herein lies the problem that most people have. If Jesus is just a man, a good man, maybe even the greatest man that ever lived they are ok with that. Perhaps he was a great moral philosopher and teacher, and they are ok with that as well. Why, because as a philosopher or teacher you have the option to hear what they say and to make a judgment on what you think is valid and true. But he is more than all of that, and if Christ indeed is the Son of God there is only one option, yield your life to him.

Three Conversations:

Last Thursday the Lord opened up an opportunity for me to witness to three different men. Carlos #1: Carlos is a plumber who came by the house to modify some of the pipes so we could install a dishwasher. When he had finished his work, he and I talked for close to an hour. I gave him a tract and explained the purpose of our move to Argentina.
